At North Texas Mixed Martial Arts we offer classes specifically designed to improve the ability of our teenagers to not only defend themselves but to have the increased agility, strength, coordination and conditioning essential for teenage sports. Self-defense is always at the heart of what we teach at NTMMA and Self-defense situations are commonly broken down into four ranges: 

Kicking Boxing Clinching/Takedowns Ground/Grappling

We teach our teenagers the accepted FILA & Olympic Martial Arts of Karate, Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Submission Wrestling and Judo, not only so that they may defend themselves correctly in any situation, but also for the sport aspect and the many benefits that preparation for a tournament or competition can produce.  While we do not require any of our students to compete, many do participate in team competitions and we encourage each student to at least try these Olympic style competitions to see if it is for them.

Our Teenage students are trained to utilize the martial arts most appropriate for each range,  Karate, Kick-Boxing, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo & Jiu-jitsu.  A well-rounded martial artist has a solid understanding of each range\style and utilizes them as best possible to quickly end any dangerous situation.  So while we teach many techniques, each class will include a weight-training or conditioning aspect as martial arts techniques are only as useful as the body which practices them.  We focus on weight-training, agility, and conditioning for our teenage athletes to ensure they can correctly apply each and every technique which they are taught.

All students must have full contact protective gear for all striking & MMA classes:  headgear, mouth guards, 16oz. gloves, MMA gloves, shin guards and school sparring shirts or rash guards.  All students must have a Judo\Jiu-Jitsu Gi for Judo and Jiu-Jitsu classes.  All gear is available for purchase at the school, if you bring your own gear it is subject to review for safety by the class instructor.
