Posted April 13th, 2009 -- A small part of the NTMMA Grappling team went to Austin for the Tournament of Champions III event and represented well as usual.  William Key and Kelly Faszholz both placed First in their no-Gi divisions, Joe Christopher made it to the Finals of the no-Gi Absolute losing a tough 1-0 match to place Second.  Chris Hoddy and Michael Magness both made it to the semi-finals of their very tough divisions.  Kelly Fazsholz also placed Second in her Gi division.  great job everyone and we look forward to bringing the full team to NAGA on May 9th.

Posted April 6th, 2009 -- Josh Smith won in decisive fashion this week, the ref stopped the fight in the second round due to brutal ground and pound.  We do wish the best for his game opponent who went to the hospital rather than tapping out. 

Posted March 23rd, 2009 -- Joe Christopher dominated Joey Gorzsynski for the first round with takedown and position control and started where he left off in the second until getting caught in an unusual choke and tapping out for the first time in his career, he is now 8-2 Pro MMA and 12-3 overall.  Look for Joe to come back with a vengeance on the 16th of April.

Posted Jan 21st, 2009 -- Joe will be defending his FCF title in OK next weekend.
Weigh-ins for this fight will be held at the Firelake Grand Casino in Shawnee at 6:00 pm Friday the 30th. (This is the same casino where Joe fought Travis Fowler if you remember that). The fight will be the main event of the fights Saturday night Jan. 31 also at the casino.
The casino is about 6 miles west of the hotel and both are right off the interstate on the north side. There are a lot of signs to lead you to the casino.

Posted Dec. 9th, 2008 --  NTMMA BJJ team took 31 people to NAGA on Dec 6th and came home with 26 Firsts and Seconds!!! Some Highlights: In Kids, Truett Wood mowed through his division to get the first place sword, Marian Christopher and Ashton Epps both scored lightning quick chokes on the way to winning their respective divisions handily. In Adults, Kelly Faszholz competing in her first tournament and bringing home two swords, Josh Smith winning a tough no-Gi war to capture first, Chris Hoddy winning his Gi division, and coach Joe Christopher making a Saturday morning snap decision to go up in weight and compete in a tough triple overtime match to defeat Brazilian Black Belt Roberto Tozi (08 Pan Am Absolute Silver medalist) to win the Advanced Cruiser Division Finals.  We are asking ALL NTMMA competitors from 2008 to come to the gym this Friday night with uniforms and medals\awards\swords in hand. We plan on something special for the kids at 5:15 a big group picture at 6PM and then adults and chaperoned children are going out after BJJ class for margaritas and fajitas.

Posted Sept 26th, 2008 -- Josh Smith and Joe Christopher had a good trip to CA and are back at work with six medals to add to the NTMMA team collection.  Josh did well in his first Nationals as a Blue Belt and won Bronze in his weight class Gi and no-Gi.  Joe fought Masters Brown Belt getting Silver Gi Middle Weight, Bronze Absolute Gi, Gold no-Gi Middle Weight, and Gold in the no-Gi Absolute.

Posted August 23rd, 2008  -- LOTS OF NEWS!!!  The weekend of August 8th, the MMA team represented in Louisiana with all three fighters coming home victorious.  Ciprian improved to 3-0 with a 15 second KO. Josh Smith is now 2-0 with his opponent forced to tap out due to strikes.  Joe Christopher got another choke, he is now 11-2 overall in MMA.    NTMMA's BJJ Team competed August 16th at the World Europa NAGA Championships held in Dallas, and again did a great job.  Steve Elliot took home his first Championship belt winning his Advanced No-Gi and Gi divisions.  Michael Magness dominated his division with five victories to win Gold as well.  Matt Lary, Chris, Monty House and Braxton Parker all made it to the Finals and received Silvers, many other NTMMA team members placed highly as well.   Finally, we are in our new location and the response has been great, (we will have the new custom ring and cage up shortly).  Thank you everyone who has made this last month a big success for us and we look for big things this coming year.

Posted July 28th, 2008 -- Joe Christopher defeated an experienced (30-14) Jeff Lindsey by RNC in first round to take the Freestyle Cage Fighting WelterWeight Belt in decisive fashion and advance his Professional MMA record to 4-1 this Saturday July 26 in Tulsa, OK.   The North Texas MMA team's hard work and training paid off and we look for even more wins as the team travels to Louisiana August 8th to fight again. We will have Joe Christopher and 2 ammy's Josh Smith 1-0 185lbs, and Ciprian Hangan 2-0 185lbs on the same card.

Posted April 24, 2008 --On May 3rd we will be taking a full complement of the 30-person NTMMA competition team to the NAGA tournament. The team ranges in age from seven to forty, and we are sure that we will make a good showing for ourselves. The following weekend on May 9th we will taking two fighters to Shreveport, LA to fight. Joshua Smith (1-0) will be fighting at 190 alongside with knockout artist Ciprian "The Transylvanian Vampire" Hangan (2-0) at 195.  We will then have two fighters competing on May 24th at different venues. Hunter Tucker(2-0) will be fighting at 145 in a King Of The Cage Event in Wichita Falls, TX and Joe Christopher (9-2) will be fighting at 170 at WinStar Casino in OK in an Art Of War event.  We will also be competing at the World Jiu-jitsu Championships the first week of June, we are looking for creative ways to make sure as many people as possible can go, so anyone wanting to help out or be on that traveling team, please call 972-353-0770 ASAP.

Posted--April 15th, 2008--Joe Christopher is signed for his fifth professional MMA match to be against David "the Viking" Anderson on May 24th at the Winstar Casino, (that's just north of Gainesville Texas on I-35) in the Art of War GIs vs. Pros Tour.  He says he hope everyone can make it up to give NTMMA support, and play some poker afterwards..., but if you should miss it, you may be able to catch it on cable later as this show is scheduled to be a post-televised event via Fox Sports.

Posted-- March 31st, 2008--Josh and Joe had a good weekend in California with Big Josh winning his first match easily and then having a controversial DQ after tapping out his next opponent with a leg lock.   Joe had five matches Saturday, using a Flying Triangle attack to win his first match, going 3-2 on the day and ultimately receiving third in Brown Belt Middle Weight Masters Divsion.
